The road to you…

In the production “The Road to You,” every audience member will find something special. Young people will learn about classic literature in ways they can’t read in textbooks. Literary enthusiasts will hear beautiful poetic translations into Russian, while connoisseurs and lovers of romances, immersed in the atmosphere of a true social salon, will be able to hear them performed by People’s Artists of the Republic of Moldova Mihai Muntean and Marian Stircea, and soprano Elena Demirjan.

“The light of a newborn star, // Striving toward the earth, spends // Hundreds of thousands of years in space, // Until it reaches us. // Perhaps it has already faded // In the vastness of the universe // At the very moment when // Its radiance reached us.”

Translator Yuri Kozhevnikov recalls his encounter with Eminescu’s poetry: “…a decisive turning point occurred in my life: I discovered a great poet. And such a dazzling discovery could not be kept to myself. I felt the need to shout about him to the whole world. But there was only one way to do this – translation.”

Mihai Eminescu’s works have been translated by such masters of Russian literature as Nikolai Chukovsky, Ariadna Efron, Alexander Brodsky, and Anna Akhmatova.
