The human desire to find a soulmate is timeless. The need to meet one’s destiny and overcome loneliness is especially characteristic of young people, such as the characters in this touching and profoundly radiant play.
One light-filled night, the Dreamer meets a young girl. They share their stories, which are fundamentally similar: they are both searching for a soulmate, mutual understanding, and relief from loneliness. A few encounters are enough for the Dreamer to realize that in Nastenka, he has found true love and is ready to sacrifice everything for the only person dear to him. Having fallen head over heels in love, the hero began to live in anticipation of each new encounter…
Director Vladimir Kiryukhantsev explains what inspired him to take on this project: “In today’s reality, when a powerful wave of negativity has fallen with all its weight on nearly every aspect of our existence, not sparing even the holy of holies—love—which is all the more unfortunate when it comes to young people, it was crucial for the creators of this production to turn to the great Russian writer F.M. Dostoevsky’s novel White Nights, which brings people the light of true love, with which alone a person can be Human.”
