TEACHERS
Energy, intelligence and the synthesis of two schools
Roman Malai is a brilliant representative of a new generation of theater professionals, harmoniously combining the talent of a profound actor with the analytical mind of a director. His work bridges tradition and bold experimentation, making him one of the most sought-after mentors in contemporary theater.
Roman received a unique education, combining two powerful theater schools in his practice.
Eastern (Moldova): Graduated from the Academy of Music, Theater, and Fine Arts (Silvia Berova’s course), where he acquired psychological depth and the ability to “experience” a role from the inside.
Western (Romania): A directing degree from Babeș-Bolyai University (Cluj-Napoca) brought European technique, an emphasis on physical preparation, and the expressiveness of the body.
His directorial work, the play TURANDOT at the Chekhov Theater, became a true highlight of the season, consistently attracting full houses and breaking sales records. As an actor, he brought Anton Pavlovich Chekhov to life on stage in the production of CHEKHOV’S MACHINERY—a role requiring meticulous precision and immense inner resource. Roman also actively appears in films, including key roles in projects by such masters as Igor Kobilyansky.
Roman’s course is a space for those who want to find their true selves, develop charisma, and learn to command the attention of any audience.
The art of transformation and stage magic
Yana Lazar is one of the most striking and charismatic actresses at the A.P. Chekhov State Russian Drama Theater. Her path to the stage began with a childhood dream, which blossomed into a brilliant professional career: from a student of the legendary Sylvia Berova to a recognized master and winner of prestigious theater awards.
Why study with her? Yana is an actress of incredible range. She is equally convincing as the fatal lady Anna Neville in RICHARD III, the unfortunate Adelma in TURANDOT, and the courageous Gerda in THE SNOW QUEEN. Her talent has been recognized with international awards, including the Grand Prix at the Monodrama International Festival, the Best Actress prize at the Slavic Crown Festival, and a diploma for Acting Temperament at the Vidlunnia Festival.
Her professional credo is honesty and depth. Yana has not only hundreds of stage appearances under her belt, but also a master’s degree from the Academy of Music, Theatre, and Fine Arts. She knows everything about acting: from speech technique and movement to the psychological subtleties of character development.
In her classes, Yana Lazar shares the secrets of “live” theater. She teaches you not just how to play a role, but how to manage your emotions, overcome the fear of public speaking, and discover facets of yourself you never even knew existed.
PETRU MARGINIAN
Freedom, rhythm and energy of the moment
Petru Marginean is an artist who doesn’t just play a role; he creates entire worlds with his voice, body, and incredible inner freedom. A graduate of one of Romania’s top theater schools (Babeș-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca), Petru brings a fresh perspective and European aesthetic to the stage.
While still a student, Petru won the prestigious Gala HOP festival for young talents in Romania. His performance of “In Between” demonstrated his mastery of performance art, blending music, movement, and dramatic text. He’s not afraid to be funny, strange, or vulnerable, and that’s exactly what he teaches his students.
Why is his course a unique experience?
Rhythm and musicality. Petru is a virtuoso guitarist, cajon player, and other percussion instruments. He will teach you to feel the rhythm of the stage and control the tempo of your speech.
Body awareness. Petru is an accomplished stage fencing artist, stilt walker, and juggler. In his courses, Petru shares this experience through concentration and reaction exercises, helping everyone unlock their physical potential and overcome inhibitions.
Live Improvisation: His method is based on seeking the “truth of the moment.” You will learn to instantly respond to circumstances, improvise, and be at ease in any situation.
